How In Case I'm Murdered Got Started
Hi! I'm April Hardy
In 2012, my children and I faced life-threatening danger, but I found few resources to help. Determined to survive, I studied personal safety and intimate partner homicide, uncovering a painful truth: women in immediate danger are often ignored or blamed.
To share what I learned, I published "In Case I’m Murdered" in 2019.
The tragic murder of Aliyah Terry, whose story mirrored mine, reinforced my mission: to help women escape violence.
Seeing a gap in life-saving resources, I created the Scary Ex Survival System—a web-based program offering education, support, and a survivor community, removing barriers like shame and isolation.

How can we help you?

If you are a woman or teenage girl who is afraid of a romantic partner, ex, or wanna-be romantic partner, you've come to the right place! It's our mission to provide you with the resources and support that you need to be as safe as possible.
Start with the Does He Scare You Quiz below. The more questions that you answer yes to, the more danger you are in.
At 23 years old, I was still with my ex husband. I didn't feel safe, but didn't understand the danger I was in yet. I wish this quiz and the other resources we've created were available then!
What is the Scary Ex Survival System?
It's an online program for women who are afraid that their life is in danger by an ex romantic partner. We know what it's like to live in fear, feeling helpless, like you're a prisoner in your own life. We also know that this is a problem that isn't understood by many people, but it isn't rare and you're not alone. This program was built by a survivor to help other women survive and thrive!

In it you will:
1) assess the danger you're in and where you will be safest
2) learn how to make your home, your online activities and your general behaviors safer
3) and once you're safe, we'll teach you what you'll need to know to stay safe in the future

All of that, accessible 24/7 from anywhere you have an internet connection. It also comes with weekly coaching calls, a private Facebook group with other intimate partner homicide threat survivors, and lifetime access!
